Description

My Skywatcher AZ-GTI mount has more issues than I realized after I dropped it few months ago.  Every few frames, a frame would not guide right and it would waste a sub or sometimes two or three.  After i took it to Texas for the eclipse, I realize the RA clamp was loose on the mount and  the mount's clutch in RA was slipping.   So I decided to tear down rebuild the mount, which involves tearing it down and rebuilding the RA clamp assembly.  It was a daunting task, but fortunately I found some great videos on Youtube and a forum thread on Cloudy Nights.  I have reassembled the head and it has seemed to go well. While it was down,  there were a few days of really cool and clear evenings and I relocated my Skywatcher 72ed, ASI183 Pro, and ASIAir setup to my old faithful Celestron Advanced GT.  After doing subs over two nights, I got amazing guiding (sub arc second on both axis).  I got this result with 4 hours over 2 nights of running.  I think I improved my gradient removal with using Graxpert.  I hope to add on to this data and improve my processing techniques which is much harder on deeper/darker targets.
